A RANGE of events are taking place to provide half-term fun in Tamworth.
A RANGE of events are taking place to provide half-term fun in Tamworth.
History, theatre and music will be served up at Tamworth Castle and Tamworth Assembly Rooms this month.
Among the attractions are
- Castle illumination – 13th February: The castle will be illuminated in a ten-minute projection from 7.30pm at the Bandstand. The illumination will provide a preview of the upcoming exhibition, Threads of Victoria, and feature a rich blend of photography, video, sketches, garment designs and reflections from students involved in this collaborative project with South Staffordshire College.
- Threads of Victoria launch – 14th February: An exhibition featuring Victorian-inspired garments made by local students and objects from Tamworth Castle's own collections.
- Victorian craft workshops – 14th, 15th, 21st and 22nd February: Running from 10am to 4.30pm, historical costumier Maya Howes will use the sessions to showcase Victorian embroidery, hand-stitching with fabrics inspired by the era and Victorian paper doll making.
- Silver screen cinema – 17th February: Matinee performances of The Cider House Rules at Tamworth Assembly Rooms. Tickets are £5.
- The Smiths Ltd – 21st February: A night of indie classics as the tribute band visit the Tamworth Assembly Rooms.
- Dino Tales – Jurassic Rescue – 22nd February: A thrilling adventure that brings dinosaurs to life on stage.
